”Tis the season of rain. This is the time of year where Mother Nature can’t decide if she wants to give us snow or rain, but recently its been a lot of rain. Here are some cute ideas to look stylish while out in the water 💦
Any makeup junkie out there knows that peach and orange have been making a comeback in the makeup world, it’s the new ‘IT’ color Of 2017. I am personally excited because I think these colors are beautiful and look great on all skin tones – plus, it’s getting me excited for spring and warmer weather! Below are some of the best ways to wear the trend and some the blushes/lipsticks I love in these gorgeous shades.
Try it monochrome:
1. Too Faced Baby Love and Love Hangover. The first one is a perfect peachy/nude shade and the second one is more of a subtle orange. Both are great for everyday ad brighten up your face. Find them here.
2. This is my favorite lipstick shade to wear in the summer because it’s so bright! Plus it’s matte which I love. MAC special edition Toledo collection orange shade. There is no link included for this one because the collection is no longer available on the MAC website, but I’m sure you can Google it and find it elsewhere.
3. This is a great everyday lipstick, it’s more of a gloss but it’s not too glossy. It’s also the perfect mix between peach and coral. Naughty by Flirt! Same with this one, no link because they no longer have it on their website, but I’m sure you can find it elsewhere.
Anyone else in here a lover of coffee? A lot of us are. A report done back in 2012 by ABC News found that on average, an American worker spends around $14.40 a week on coffee (this does not include the cost of drinking coffee at home), totaling to around $1,100 every year. That is a lot of money. Here are some coffee alternatives (some still have caffeine) that have a large variety of health benefits and can also help you save a couple of dollars. It’s time to dump the coffee and keep your energy!
Green, licorice, ginseng, peppermint and chai tea (my personal favorite) are all great coffee substitutes. Heres why:
- Green tea has slightly less caffeine than a cup of coffee but enough to give you a boost without any of the coffee jitters
- Green tea is packed with health benefits such as?powerful antioxidants and potent disease fighters
- Licorice tea has a sweet and spicy taste, but is actually caffeine-free
- Licorice tea supports your adrenal glands, which are organs that respond to stress and also helps increase energy
- Ginseng?tea taste great with a spoonful of sugar or honey and helps stimulate your concentration
- Peppermint tea helps you perk up while also freshening up your breath and helping calm your stomach
- Chai tea has a similar taste to coffee and will have the effect in helping you get over an afternoon hump
Nut – Filled Smoothies: Nuts are high in protein and fiber, which makes them a great afternoon snack, but they’re also nourishing and healthy ?whipped into a smoothie. Smoothies made using ingredients like cashew milk, protein powder, and nut butter help elevate your blood sugar levels, which helps you stay up in the middle of the day.
Green Smoothies: A chilled green smoothie in the morning is a quick, healthy and yummy way to wake up because nutrient – rich greens give you a quick energy lift. Try incorporating fresh veggies such as spinach, kale and barley greens into your smoothies.
Lemon Water: So delicious and refreshing! Lemon water help stimulate your senses and wake you up. Simply add either fresh lemon juice or slices of lemon to your water.
Pomegranate Juice: For those like me that like the taste of pomegranates, pomegranate juice is a great energy booster that is full of antioxidants. It can also be easily incorporated into other beverages, so either drink it on its own or mix it with other fruit juice or even mix it into a smoothie.
Prune Juice: If you can’t seem to get rid of coffee for good, try substituting prune juice for sugar/creamer instead. This crisp juice helps regulate the proper level of electrolytes in your body, leading to increased stamina.
Is it just me or did swimsuit season sneak up a little sooner this year?…I didn’t realize this until I walked outside and realized it was over 80 degrees and received my first text message to go hang out by the pool. I am happy it is finally starting to warm up outside but also terrified because my body is no where near ready to rock a bikini!
Like most women, a problem area on our body is the inner thigh. It is also a hard area to target to lose fat and tone/tighten. I have looked and found the best exercises you can do (that are not that hard, anyone can do them!) that well help tone and tighten your inner thighs! Time to get to sweating!
This is a great workout that can be performed with no equipment, so you can do it at home. If you want to add weight, just grab some dumbbells. Here is a video link on how to perform it:?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNKVK2axeNI
Sumo Squat with Kettle Bell?
This is similar to the plie squat but is performed with a kettle bell. You can definitely feel the difference! Here is a video link on how to perform it:?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF6yrTfu5Ow
As you can now tell, a lot of these exercises are very similar. This is the same as a plie squat, but you add a jump as well. It’s harder than it looks! Here is a video link on how to perform it:?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwTvpc28JIE
One of the best inner thigh exercises you can do, the clam exercise is also not as easy as it looks. To make it a little more challenging you can do it with a resistant band. Here is a video link on how to perform it:?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP6NqiJ5hqM
Inner Thigh Leg Lifts?
These are one of my favorite inner thigh workouts because you can really feel it working. To make it more challenging, you can wear ankle weights. Here is a video link on how to perform it:?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKR209nWCdE
As a lot of you know, Kellie’s Consignment’s has finally moved locations! The new store is now up and running and we are very happy we got it all ready and together for you guys in such a short period of time! It was a lot of work but we did it!
Along the way I could not help but think about organization and ways to organize better. I came up with a short list to help make life a little easier!
- Place a trash can in every room. This will help you eliminate any unwanted garbage from being left laying around.
- Label, label, label! They’re so helpful! You don’t need a fancy labeler either. Note cards work just fine or colored construction paper if you want to color coordinate certain things works just fine too.
- Use bins to separate and store items. They come in a variety of sizes, colors and ?shapes and you can chose with lids or lidless which is also great. They’re also inexpensive!
- Go through your things every month or couple of months. If you do this you won’t take hours going through your stuff when you decide to de-clutter once a year.
- Donate. A lot of the things we accumulate over the years we barely use or never even end up using at all. You’ll get it out of your home and someone with better use for it will benefit from them.
I hope this helps a little! If you have not stopped by the new store please make sure to! It’s coming along great and so far we have gotten great feedback 🙂
As all of our beautiful and loyal customers know, Kellie’s Consignments is currently underway of moving to a new location on Marsh Road. Since the new location is double the size of the current store, we needed a lot of help getting it ready for you guys. The new store had a lot of construction done, needed new carpet, a new paint job, among lots of other little things! Thankfully, even with the large workload that needed to be finished, we are happy to announce that we are very close to being done! We got a lot of help from people who came to volunteer and we just want to give you guys a HUGE thank you!!!! We really could not have gotten done in such a short amount of time without all of your hard work and ?help; we really appreciate you!
With this being said, volunteer work is something that everyone should really take a part in. Working for someone or something for no monetary gain is sometimes when you actually learn the most and get back the most. There are a ton of volunteer and philanthropic opportunities in the Lansing area that you can sign up for. If you have the time, go make a difference and help someone else out! The world will be sure to return it to you in a positive way ~
It finally feels like spring is here to stay, its beautiful outside today! Although this weekend was full of snow, freezing rain, hail and anything in between, today and the rest of the week’s forecast show that it is going to finally be warming up. So ladies, start pulling out your favorite dresses, skirts and wedge heels because you can finally wear them! To give you a head start here are some spring outfit ideas 🙂 Enjoy and be inspired!
What comes to mind when you think of success? Probably successful people such as Steve Jobs or Oprah. We often forget that these successful people are just people like you and me; the real secret behind their success is what they do on a daily basis. Here are 10 small things successful people do everyday:
- Focus Your Attention On Being Productive Rather Than On Being Busy
Everyone is busy – its hard not to let your mind race with all of the things you have to do, errands to run and assignments to complete. The best thing to do is to take a deep breath and slow down. Instead of freaking out about how much you have to do, take 5 minutes to make a game plan of how you are going to accomplish one thing at a time.
2. Wake Up Early
This is a no-brainer, you accomplish more when you get up early. Even if it is just an hour earlier than you usually wake up – you can accomplish so much in an hour: go for a morning run, complete a 30-minute workout and shower, respond to emails, plan your week, etc. It’ll definitely help you stay ahead of the game.
3. Focus On Making Small, But Continuous Improvements
You can’t always get everything done at once, especially if it is something bigger and harder than you are accustomed to. It’s better to take these tasks one piece at a time and break them up into small pieces. Do this and you will be sure to get it done in no time without stressing yourself out.
4. Make Time For Exercise
60 minutes of physical activity is all you need to feel good, stay healthy and reduce the percent of weight gain and diseases related to weight gain. Regular exercise helps keep your body healthy as well as well as helps with your mental state.
5. Focus On The Positive, Even When Its Hard Not To
This is harder than it sounds, but it is definitely something you should start practicing. Successful people are always optimistic and try to look for the positive in any situation.
6. Keep Track Of Your Progress
A great way to keep track of your progress is to keep a journal or make lists and cross things off as you go, this was you can physically see and read everything you are getting done and how far along you’ve come with whatever it is you are trying to achieve.
7. They Inspire And Help Other Reach Success
It is important to give back, even if its not in the form of monetary or material things, giving someone advice or positivity is just as good, if not better.
8. Keep A Consistent Schedule
Keeping a consistent schedule helps you prioritize and focus on what is really important and will ultimately help you get the most done everyday, helping you achieve success.
9. Have A Detailed Plan
Having a vision and a plan is important. Write this plan down in detail and attack it.
10. Don’t Procrastinate Or Make Excuses?
There is no time for either of these things, and more than likely if you procrastinate something and don’t end up accomplishing it on time, you will regret it and wish you wouldn’t have procrastinated. Successful people do not procrastinate or make excuses, they get things done.
I hope this list helped! Now go out and be successful!
There are endless options when it comes to breakfast. Personally, it is my favorite meal of the day. If you are busy and usually need to whip something up fast in the morning, here are 5 great fast, easy and healthy breakfast options that I eat on the regular:
- Avocado Toast with Egg
Sometimes simple is just better. This recipe calls for two pieces of bread but if you get full easy you could just do one. This recipe is super simple and this breakfast can also be portble if you’re on the go. Find the recipe here:?http://thecornerkitchenblog.com/avocado-toast/
2. Peanut Butter and Banana?
This classic duo needs no explanation and no recipe. Its two thing: a banana and peanut butter. They taste great together, require no prepping and its a great way to get protein in the morning.
3. Fruit and Yogurt Parfait?
This one also does not need a certain recipe because you can make it based on what your favorite fruit preferences are. The main ingredients will be yogurt (I recommend Greek, its a healthier option than regular yogurt) and granola.
4. Oatmeal and an Apple
Another two ingredient recipe. This combo is very yummy together and is a great way to get some fiber right in the morning. If you’re not a fan of apples you can substitute it for any other fruit.
5. Spinach and Eggs
The last and final duo: spinach and eggs. It’s yummy and good for you, try it.
Theses are all super simple and nutritious breakfast ideas that I hope you will all try! They keep you full and help you feel good in the morning, I wouldn’t be sharing them with you if I didn’t personally love them 😉 Leave a comment and let us know which one was your favorite!
I think I can speak for everyone at Kellie’s Consignments when I say that we truly do have one of the best bosses around. A boss runs a work place – assigns tasks, manages workloads and projects, resolves problems and conflicts and keeps employees on track. Kellie does all of this while still making sure we are all okay, happy and safe. She loves bringing us food which we also all love 🙂 She really trusts her employees and the bond that everyone has at work is great and helps us all work together to run the store the most successful way possible while still having fun.
Kellie goes above and beyond and we love recognizing that and thanking her. This past weekend the whole staff came together and put together a potluck for Kellie in appreciation of all she does for us and in congratulations of her most recent award. It was a great time with a lot of laughs. There are other ways to show your boss you care about them. If you want to show your boss(s) that you appreciate them, here are some simple things you can do:
Offer To Help Out
Does the place you work need extra help? Does someone need a shift covered? Does your boss need you to stay at your shift longer? When available, offer to help out in any way you can. Your boss will notice and appreciate your efforts.
Have A Positive Attitude
A little positivity goes a long way – being positive while at work can boost your co-workers mood and help set the tone for the day. Your boss will be sure to appreciate you bringing these good vibes to work.
Who doesn’t appreciate a gift every now and then? It really shows that you care. This does not have to be done often and does not have to be something big or expensive, anything will be sure to be greatly appreciated by your boss.
